RWANDA’S LEADING CHALLENGE
FOR ASPIRING SECONDARY SCHOOL ENTREPRENEURS

We are convinced that the biggest challenge facing our continent is youth unemployment, and that focused support of entrepreneurship is the greatest driver for job creation and meaningful employment.

The better we are at enhancing the abilities of young people at an early age, more so in being able to see a problem in society and come up with a solution, the better prepared they will be for the future world of work, either as entrepreneurs or entrepreneurial leaders.

The Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge is a free six-week online gamified, fun, futuristic, and learner-centric initiative to inspire focus on developing the entrepreneurial mindset & aspirations among learners in secondary/ high schools across Rwanda. The Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge further develops learners’ 21st Century Skills, enhances competency-based education, and develops their basic education core competencies such as communication and collaboration, self-efficacy, critical thinking and problem-solving, creativity and imagination, digital literacy, and learning to learn.

The Challenge inspires entrepreneurship through micro-challenges founded on real-life scenarios under different industry topics.

Entrepreneurial aspirations in young people are further stimulated by exposing them to innovations across Rwanda and other African countries.

The Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge is NOW CLOSED.

Educators
We’re forming an influential community of next-generation teachers across the country, equipping them with 21st-century learning tools and challenging them to prepare our youth for success in Rwanda’s dynamic future global marketplace.

.THE CHALLENGE

Learners across Rwanda compete against each other by completing weekly challenges in a web browser and mobile app based game, which tackle some of the country’s most important problems. Each challenge requires learners to apply new concepts in real-world situations and submit their experiences for review.

Points earned place learners, teachers and their schools on live leaderboards, with the top performers being rewarded with weekly incentives and a selection of exciting grand prizes.

 PRIZES

Wavumbuzi Partner Schools qualify to receive learner, teacher and school prizes/incentives.

Incentives are awarded on a weekly basis and vary from cash prizes to mobile data bundles.

Grand Prizes are awarded to the top-performing learners, teachers and schools at the Wavumbuzi Grand Awards Ceremony.
