Hearing from Nancy:
A couple of years ago, I was still 15 years old at the time, I got a crazy idea, or I should call it a brilliant idea, to form a club that aimed to help youths recognize and develop their talents at a young age. The club was named “Get More Knowledge.” We would prepare different competitions that involved youth participation, and the winning team would get prizes. The club successfully operated for two years. However, later on, we encountered some difficulties that did not allow us to continue.
The reason I am saying all this is because the Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge reminds me of Get More Knowledge. The difference is that it is stronger, bigger, with a clear mission, operated by knowledgeable and passionate experts. From the little research I have done so far, I firmly believe Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge will bring a significant change to the lives of youth. It will open up their mind to the endless opportunities available to them. In addition to that, I learn fast when I’m practising, and that is the beauty of the Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge as it practically involves students doing the challenge – and they learn as they do, not as they listen or watch.
Moreover, time is changing, technology is advancing very fast, so should our education strategy. It has to evolute to meet the market demand of the future. I am certain that the five mindsets which are Drive, Personal Initiatives, Resilience, Spirit of Significance, and Intellectual Imagination that WEC wants to develop in students will allow them to become true entrepreneurial-minded people.
So I encourage you, get your learners involved and participated in this great initiative.
