INTRODUCTION
Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies (AGGP) has embarked on a journey to develop responsible entrepreneurs across the African continent in service of the common good. AGGP utilizes a long-term strategy in developing exceptional value-driven, high-impact responsible entrepreneurs for job creation and poverty alleviation.
One of AGGP’s programs in Kenya is the Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge – a free six-week online entrepreneurship challenge designed to nurture and develop entrepreneurial aspirations in secondary/High school Learners. You can read more about Wavumbuzi, here: https://wavumbuzi.africa/kenya/
SCOPE OF WORK
We seek the services of individuals known as Wavumbuzi Ambassadors – who are passionate about entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, teachers’ and learners’ capacity enhancement, and support for the Wavumbuzi program residing in the following 8 regions i.e Western, Eastern, Nyanza, Coast, North Eastern, Nairobi, Central, and Rift Valley.
The key tasks are:
- Act as the face of the Wavumbuzi Program in the designated regions and assigned schools.
- Support schools in the allocated region to successfully undertake the community service learning activity during Term 1.
- Support schools with computers and internet connectivity to register for the online Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge scheduled for Term 2.
- Mobilize and encourage teachers in the respective regions to attend teacher training and teacher onboarding sessions to understand the registration and onboarding process of both schools and learners.
- Ensure that all the teachers in one’s region are fully onboarded, registered and added to the respective WhatsApp groups.
- Facilitate group and one-on-one training sessions with Teachers, particularly with onboarding onto the challenge platform, or any other Wavumbuzi intervention program.
- Motivate, inspire, and onboard at least 6,000 Learners from the assigned Regions to register and actively participate in the challenge.
- Ensure all registered Learners are actively engaged i.e. complete the Training Centre/ Introductory Quest and at least two other Quests.
- Ensure all registered Learners willingly complete the pre and post-surveys and any other survey given during the challenge.
- Maintain professionalism at all times and excellent communication with all challenge participants.
- Work closely with relevant Wavumbuzi partners in your region to support schools while ensuring Learners actively engage in the Challenge as per weekly performance data.
- Provide support to the Teachers and communicate effectively while solving any challenges faced by the teachers and learners within the platform.
- Effectively solve, communicate, or follow up on any issues raised in one’s assigned Region(s) and ensure all issues are resolved speedily.
- Visit selected and assigned schools during the Challenge period to motivate Learners to attempt all the challenges in the Challenge World.
- Participate in school visits to congratulate active Principals, Teachers, and Learners as well as distribute any merchandise and awards to the winning schools and learners.
- Take part in the moderation process and ensure that all weekly moderations due and as assigned by the School Liaison are completed.
- Track and accurately capture all key outcomes onto the reporting platform i.e. the Ambassador reporting tool shared by the School Liaison.
- Provide daily updates and weekly work plans with reports to the School Liaison.
- Provide post-challenge feedback to help improve future editions.
- Any other tasks or responsibilities that may be reasonably expected.
DURATION
The contract will be valid for four and a half months starting on 1st March 2024 and ending on 15th July 2024. However, should there be a need for an extension, an extension contract will be issued to you in writing.

- You are a university fresh graduate and looking for work experience.
- You have excellent communication skills

- You are passionate about youth, entrepreneurship, education, and social change
- You are disciplined, timeous and always take the initiative to solve a problem
- You are highly organized, and analytical, with an eye for detail
- Proactive, curious, innovative, and self-motivated
- You have a laptop and internet access and confidence in technology
- Experience in the Secondary/ High School Education sector will be an added advantage
- You are not an active Secondary School Teacher or Principal.
CONTRACT
This is a project-based assignment paid monthly. Your full scope of work is outlined under the deliverables clause and will be decided weekly depending on the project needs and the demand in your respective locations assigned to you by the Wavumbuzi School Liaison. The agreed monthly rate is a remuneration of KES 20,000. This will be paid at the end of every month upon receipt of your completed summary of weekly reports submitted to, and reviewed by, the Wavumbuzi School Liaison and approved by the Program Manager. In addition, you will receive a monthly communication allowance of KES 1,500
The successful candidates must be willing to operate from various counties, travel regionally, and work irregular hours from time to time, including weekends. All reasonable expenses will be covered.
PAYMENT
- The payment will be pegged on the performance of the respective ambassador based on the assigned and expected tasks.
- Payments will be made at the end of every month for the complete month’s work verified by the School Liaison against the reported activities.
- All reimbursements are subject to prior verification by the Program Manager and further approved by the Country Lead.
TRAINING
Successful applicants will undergo virtual onboarding and training sessions before they start the actual work. Confirmation of final appointment as Wavumbuzi Ambassador will be contingent on the successful completion of the training and understanding of the Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge and related activities.
