WHAT IS WAVUMBUZI?
The Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge is a 6-week competition designed to help secondary school learners (forms 1 – 4) prepare for life after school. Wavumbuzi focuses on developing entrepreneurial mindsets and beliefs, which are key drivers of behavioral change.
Wavumbuzi Kenya runs for 6 weeks, in August 2021.
Challenges take between 10-60mins to complete, depending on their complexity. Points earned place students, teachers and their schools on live leaderboards, and the top performers are rewarded with a selection of exciting prizes.
Learners anywhere in the country, at any official secondary school or any home school, may register and take part in the Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge. Schools can register to receive support in running classroom activities that complement the Wavumbuzi challenges.
WHO IS WAVUMBUZI FOR?
• Secondary school learners (forms 1-4) in Kenya • Schools that want to inspire their learners to embrace entrepreneurship • Teachers, parents, and alumni who want to support a spirit of entrepreneurship in their school.
MARKING AND MODERATION
Challenges are marked by multiple other participating learners with the help of marking rubrics. Points are earned and lost by each marker depending on how close their assessment is to the final mark awarded. If the marks awarded by various learners vary too greatly then a moderator assesses the submission and makes a final decision of the mark to be awarded.
TYPES OF CHALLENGES
Throughout Wavumbuzi Kenya, participants are exposed to useful mindsets, habits and concepts for entrepreneurs.
A spectacular Awards Ceremony will be held after the completion of the challenges to celebrate the top performers of Wavumbuzi Kenya.
